Introduction to Moraira

Moraira lies in a bay, on the South Eastern coast of Spain. It has one of the best climates of continental Europe and is ideal for year round visiting.  Welcome sea breezes in summer and protected against the cold North winds in winter. The area remains almost exclusively for villa owners and individuals, who prefer the independent holiday. Restaurants in abundance (3 Michelin star-rated), shops, wineries, historic buildings and celebrations, all watersports, golf, tennis, horse-riding, go-karts, walking, cycling, climbing, parasailing, themepark Terra Mitica, excursions or renting a Harley Davidson!

Moraira  - general description

Moraira's roots are those of a small fishing village and today it still hasn't forgotten those roots - each weekday morning after the local fishing fleet return to harbour there a fish auction at the port.

Moraira is one of the more elegant destinations on the Costa Blanca and isn't plagued by high rise buildings or overdevelopment. Moraira still retains the charm of a small town but at the same time has matured to offer a rich variety of holiday experiences for the discerning visitor.

Both the town centre itself and also the beaches are well planned with obvious attention to detail.  Moraira's two main beaches are made up of clean golden sand and are extremely attractive bays, swimming here is safe and pleasant and the beach is cleaned daily. Moraira's main beach (L’Ampolla) is situated right next to the town centre with convenient pedestrian walkways and a park area meaning that it is not necessary to cross any roads to get to the town shops & cafes etc. from the beach

For those with small children there is usually a small fairground in summer. After a visit to the fairground, one can visit one of the many ice cream cafes or just browse the stalls of the nearby night (crafts) market.

Intertwined with Moraira's restaurants and bars are many interesting shops that stay open late into the evening. These range from the usual tourist fare, to designer clothing, art galleries, Spanish leather goods and fresh produce that can be found in the local shops.

The Friday market held opposite the town centre is an excellent opportunity to purchase all manner of fresh produce as well as imitation leather goods, clothing and jewellery. For the adventurous a fresh fish market at which all are welcome is held in the town's marina every morning except Sunday.

Just walking around Moraira is an enjoyable experience - the central square has many places to sit down and eat or drink, the streets are a mix of narrow cobbled lanes and avenues lined with palm trees and fountains. There are many quiet spots where one can sit and watch the world go by or gaze out over the stunning sea vista along the coastline to Calpe.

There is an excellent array of sports to suit all, including jet ski hire, water skiing, deep sea fishing, diving tuition and equipment hire, tennis courts, a golf course, mini golf and mountain bike hire. For children there are specially designed park areas to play safely in and around the town.

Alternatively for a great day out visit Paramount Theme Park, Aqualandia, Mondumar, Font D'Algar or even Valencia city for it's historic centre, stunning architecture, shopping and culture.

Note:
The owner of this property is making an application for registration of the property on the Valencia Tourist Board Register.
